Worked for me, not the way everybody expect but with some patience I think this app can fix many boot issues, I did have issues with boot-repair since the beginning from not detecting BR to 'successfully fixed' (when it wasn't), but after many attempts finally succeed, the problem with BR is this. Almost all the resources in the software are dedicated to fix Ubuntu and little resources for Windows, you have to change some things manually in advanced settings to tell BR where you want the MBR to be installed/fixed, in my case I wanted primarily fix the NTFS partition. No source code published, no way to generate your own image. For all I know this steals all your passwords and sends them to the author, installs hidden bitcoin miners or trojans, etc. Stay away from projects that don't publish their source code.
Used tuxboot to create bootable boot-repair usb. Then rebooted with that usb stuck in a usb port. After a GRUB2 screen and several minutes, got nice gui with boot-repair screen saying Scanning systems (mount) This may require several minutes... followed by progress bar, but that progress bar seemed frozen at about 40%. After what seemed like 20minutes and no change in progress bar, I finally stopped it and logged out.
Although not immediately obvious in Windows Vista, it does come with the ability to create the repair CD which you can use to repair things like the boot sector, boot failure issues or various other problems.
