Delete music and music videos

You can delete songs, albums, playlists, and music videos that you downloaded to your device. If you see a download icon next to an item, the item is stored in the cloud, and not on your device.

Delete items in the Apple Music app

You can delete single items in the Music app on your iOS device or the Apple Music app on your Android device.

  1. In the Apple Music app, find the item that you want to delete. If you see next to the item, the item is stored in the cloud, not on your device. When items are stored in the cloud, they don't use any storage on your device.
  2. Press and hold the item that you want to delete.
  3. In the menu that appears, tap Remove.
  4. When prompted to confirm, tap either Remove Download or Remove Downloads. If you see 'Delete from Library,' you added the item through Apple Music. Tap 'Delete from Library' to remove it from all of your devices and iCloud Music Library.

Delete items in iTunes

  1. In iTunes on a Mac or PC, right-click or Control-click the item that you want to delete. If you see next to the item, the item is stored in the cloud, not on your device. When items are stored in the cloud, they don't use any storage on your device.
  2. Choose Delete from Library, then click Delete Song.
  3. Click Move to Trash or Move to Recycle Bin. Or if you want to keep the item on your computer but remove it from iTunes, click Keep File.

To see duplicates in your iTunes library, go to your Library, then choose File > Library > Show Duplicate Items.

Delete music in iOS Settings

On your iPhone, you can delete music from your device in Settings.

  1. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
  2. Scroll to Music, then tap it.
  3. Swipe left on any artist, album, or song.
  4. Tap Delete.

From this menu, you can also delete all music. Under Recommendations, swipe left on All Songs, then tap Delete.

On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, if you don't make music available for offline use, it's cached using the space available on the device. The device will remove cache, and the cached music, as space is needed by the device.

If you can't delete your music

You might have manually synced the music or music videos from iTunes on your computer to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using USB. Turn off syncing in iTunes to delete the item.

If you don't want an iTunes purchase to be visible in the Apple Music app, but you don't want to delete it, you can hide it. Learn how to hide items stored in the cloud.

Delete movies and TV shows

In the Apple TV app,* you can delete movies and TV shows that you've downloaded to your device. If you see a download icon next to your purchased content, the item is stored in the cloud, not on your device.

  1. In the Apple TV app, tap Library at the bottom of the screen, then tap Downloaded.*If you don't see Downloaded, then there aren't any videos downloaded on your device.
  2. Swipe left on a movie or TV show.
  3. Tap Delete.

To delete multiple items, tap Edit, tap the items, then tap Delete in the upper-right corner.
