I got myself a 512GB QHD RBS Kaby Lake + Core recently and setting it up has been... exciting to say the least. My RBS is sufficiently factory fresh that it came with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (and a Samsung PM961 drive, woohoo!), which somewhat complicates the initial setup of the core. I decided to write a quick guide to share on the setup process so that nobody else has to deal with the system bluescreening so epicly a full Windows recovery was needed (3 times!). I am using an Asus ROB STRIX RX480 8GB 1330OC, which only just fits in the Core and looks downright gorgeous in there.

The Razer Core X external graphic enclosure is incredibly versatile and compatible with Thunderbolt™ 3 systems running Windows 10 RS5 or later and Macs running macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 or later. Laptops require a Thunderbolt 3 port with external graphics (eGFX) support. The Razer Core is CNC milled out of aluminum and weighs 10.89 lbs. Can I use the Razer Core without installing a graphics card? Yes, the Razer Core’s I/O ports including USB and Ethernet will continue to function without a graphic card installed. Is there a longer Thunderbolt cable available for the Razer Core?

0) Install your chosen graphics card into the core. Plug it into the wall but do not plug it in to your RBS yet. Create a Windows 10 recovery drive if you like; the hidden recovery partition did the job for me but it doesn't hurt to have a second backup option.

Guide Setting up a Razer Core with a New Razer Blade Stealth (Windows 10 Anniversary Update) Setup I got myself a 512GB QHD RBS Kaby Lake + Core recently and setting it up has been. Exciting to say the least. Razer Blade Pro 17 2013 Driver Download for Windows 10, 8, 7 By razerdrivers Posted on August 27, 2019 Hello friends, welcome to my website, I will discuss the Razer Blade Pro 17. These steps will work for the Razer Core V2, Core X, and Core X Chroma. Note: Windows 10 RS5 is highly recommended for easy connectvity with Thunderbolt 3. Download and install the latest NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Catalyst drivers for your compatible graphics card.

  1. Fully update your RBS. Make sure Synapse is up to date you have every possible Windows update available (your build should be 1067). Reboot your RBS to ensure any pending updates are fully installed.

  2. Download your full video card driver installer package from [AMD](http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64} or Nvidia. You will be offline for the driver installation process so it's important that you get the FULL driver packages, not the minimal installers.

Side note: Razer's own documentation for W10AU Core issues will point you to a driver hosted on their own website. I can't speak for Team Green, but I tried it initially and it didn't work for me. I realized upon closer inspection that the driver is dated March 2016 which pre-dates the release of the card I'm using.

3) Take your RBS COMPLETELY offline. Put it into Airplane Mode and unplug any wired LAN adapters you may have plugged in. To be safe, unplug any peripherals you have hooked into the RBS or the Core for now.

4) Plug in the Core. The Thunderbolt software will pop up and ask you to authorize a new device chain. Do so. Verify that it is plugged in and properly working by checking that 'Razer, Core' is listed under Port 1 on the TB software.

5) Install your graphics card drivers. Reboot. The Core can now remain plugged in. When you boot to desktop the screen should flicker a little and AMD XConnect/NVidia's equivalent should pop up and inform you that your eGPU is now active.

6) Re-enable your Internet connection. You can now use the Ethernet port on the Core if you so desire! There is a known issue where the Core will not work if you are connected to a 2.4GHz wifi connection. If you only have 2.4GHz wifi (like I do - Thanks Comcast!) and no access to an ethernet hookup, do not consider purchasing the Core just yet.

7) Synapse will pop up and inform you of a Core software update. Install it. Reboot.

8) You should now have the Core working. Have fun!
