Defensive Driving Classes Can Dismiss Tickets

If you’ve got pulled over in Virginia and received a ticket you may be able to get it dismissed as well as avoid points added to your record if:

What is required before I can start the course?

The DMV requires that Driver Improvement Clinics (that's us) determine if the student (that's you) has selected the correct course and whether the court is allowing them to receive safe driving points or not. In order to do this, we need to see:

  • Proper identification (driver license or government-issued identification
  • The court document allowing or requiring attendance in a driver improvement clinic.

You can submit this information to us during the registration process. Your eligibility to complete the course should be verified the same day you submit your documents.

Important Date of Birth Information

If you enter your date of birth incorrectly, your completion information will not be posted to your driving record, therefore; if you are DMV directed, your clinic requirement will not be satisfied.

Basic Driver Improvement Course

The Basic Driver Improvement Course program permits eligible drivers to take a driver improvement course, either on-line or in a classroom.

The Secretary of State will not make the points or information from the ticket available to insurance companies for drivers who successfully complete the BDIC through an approved sponsor.

The BDIC serves as a refresher of basic traffic safety principles. The course requires a minimum four hours of study before the first attempt to pass the final test. This refresher course can improve safety for all Michigan drivers.

Maryland Driver Improvement Class Online

The Secretary of State will notify eligible drivers. Eligible drivers have 60 days to arrange for and successfully complete the BDIC. The course completion deadline is listed on the notice of eligibility. Eligible drivers should begin the BDIC well before the deadline to ensure it can be completed before the deadline. The approved sponsor will notify the Secretary of State of course results.
